Pesan dari Bintang

One of my favorite books is Pesan dari Bintang. But, before I tell you what the story about, I will tell you first about the person who wrote it. Her name is Sitta Karina. She is author of the best-selling novels Lukisan Hujan, Kencana, and Imaji Terindah. I always like her book because the story is fun to read and I always love the characters. One of Sitta Karina’s stories is about Hanafiah family. I think the stories about Hanafiah family are the most famous among the other. Well, Pesan dari Bintang is also tells about Hanafiah family.

The story is about friendship between Inez Callasandra Hanafiah (Inez) and Nikratama Zakrie (Niki). They had been friends since 5 years ago in Central Park, New York City. Their first meeting is at Headrick High a public school in New York City. At that time, Inez and Niki are both from Indonesia that attend school in New York. They always spent time together. Even though they are best friend, they have different personalities. Inez is a cheerful girl and she is really popular especially in boys, while Niki is a calm and easy going person. After they graduated from senior high school in New York City, Niki go back to Indonesia as well as Inez. They both attend the same university. They study at URI (Universitas Richmond Indonesia), Niki majoring in business while Inez majoring in fashion design.

Actually, their conflict shows up when Rifas (Niki’s brother) go back from Perth to Indonesia to finish his business with Niki. Rifas whom Niki respect the most, has turn to be someone who rude and always angry after Kasih (Rifas girlfriend) died. From that time, Rifas’ mentally has disturbed and he is blaming Niki to be Kasih’s killer. Because he is the one who talk with Kasih for last time.

Now after Rifas back to Indonesia, he always hurt Niki. When he is high, he will strike Niki even he throw bookshelves to Niki’s body. He is so rude, especially to Niki. After a long time, Niki feels his mentally became disturbed too. So, he went to psychiatrist and he is suffering PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). PTSD is a trauma condition and person’s response because the trauma he experienced. Where he felt threatened by the incident or injured about it so he felt so scared.

Niki surely never want Inez know his problem. Because he don’t want to make Inez in danger and he loves her so much. But they already know for 5 years! Of course Inez notices something different from her best friend. Suddenly Niki often daydream even when she talks with him, Niki always in pain, and why lately his body is full of wound?

Inez aware, she has another feeling to Niki. She wants to be more than friends with him. But why suddenly Niki slowly go away from her life? And what will Inez says if she knew that Rifas will kill her beloved one, Niki? Well, you have to read it yourself to find out the rest of story, because if I tell you, it won’t be interesting anymore.

The reason why to love this book is because you will feel the chemistry between the characters is very good and real. One I read it I couldn’t stop because I always want to know what happens next. Plus Sitta write some poems in this book. So you won’t be bored if you read this book.
