May Day
The first day of May is known as May
Day. May Day is a day when labors all over the world go demonstration.
Indonesia is one of the countries that each year always held a May Day. In our
city, Bandung is no exception.
In
May Day all labors gather together to speak up about their aspiration. The
demonstration can be held in their own company or in government office. If they
do it in their own company, it means they have some demands for their boss. But
if they do it in government office, it means they want government to fulfill
their wish. Actually, May Day is a good opportunity for labors to open up about
their minds. Many people often look down to them, whereas in Indonesia we have
equality of law. All citizens in Indonesia have the same rights and obligation.
Even if you are manager, president, teacher, or a labor we have the same
rights. So we mustn’t look down for them.
In Java Island, that known
as a populous Island has many labors. In Bandung for example, there are many
factories. Of course it makes an impact for amount of labors in Bandung. Labors
help government to refine the economy. If labor works properly, it will make an
investor interest to invest their stock in Indonesia. If that happens, it will
increase Indonesian income. It proved that labor is needed in Indonesia.
People
that didn’t work as a labor usually hate May Day. They said May Day will just
cause traffic in the protocol. Besides cause traffic, labors that go
demonstration usually make a chaos. They go anarchist and harm the other
people. If that happen, the police have to step in. Labors that initially want
to pursue their rights in fact get hurt because the anarchist.
Besides
of the anarchist, there are some labors that purely want to release their
aspiration such as they ask for better health facilities, insurance, and better
treatment. Not only that, they also refuse low salary and increasing price for
daily use.
